Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with First-Class Honours or equivalent.
  • Must be enrolled full-time in a PhD program or expected to enroll within 3 months of applying.
  • Students who have already started their PhD at the university less than 6 months ago are eligible to apply.

Selection Criteria

  • Outstanding academic record and excellent academic references.
  • High research potential or an outstanding record of research publications.
  • Alignment of the research topic with the interests of the school or research center.
  • Strategic importance of the research (such as institutional collaboration or socially impactful projects).

Important Notes

  • The application must be completed by 4:30 PM (New Zealand time) on the deadline date.

  • Full-time commitment is required throughout the scholarship duration.
  • Students may work up to 600 hours per year with supervisor approval.
  • Recipients are required to submit semi-annual progress reports.
  • If the student discontinues studies or fails to make satisfactory progress, the scholarship may be terminated or partially reclaimed.
