Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi offers a range of graduate programs (Master’s and Ph.D.) in artificial intelligence and related fields, giving outstanding students the opportunity to study and conduct research in a highly advanced academic environment. Scholarship Details

  • Study Location: Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
  • Duration: 2 years for Master’s, 4 years for Ph.D.
  • Degree Level: Master’s / Ph.D.
  • Funding Type: Fully funded.

     

Funding Coverage

  • Full tuition fee waiver.
  • Monthly stipend:
    • Master’s students: AED 37,500 (UAE Nationals), AED 15,500 (International Students).
    • Ph.D. students: AED 43,500 (UAE Nationals), AED 17,500 (International Students).
  • Visa sponsorship (for non-UAE nationals).
  • Comprehensive health insurance.

Student Housing

  • The stipend includes housing allowance, and students are responsible for covering accommodation costs (on-campus or off-campus).
  • Primarily offered to undergraduate and first-year graduate students.
  • Housing fee: AED 7,500 per month (deducted directly from the stipend).

Important Notes

  • All full-time Master’s and Ph.D. students receive full scholarships, except for the Master’s in Applied Artificial Intelligence (MAAI).
  • To maintain the scholarship and benefits, students must:
    • Maintain high academic performance.
    • Adhere to the University’s Code of Conduct.
    • Meet academic and research expectations.

Important Dates

  • Application Opens: September 1, 2025 (8 a.m. GST).
  • Priority Deadline: November 15, 2025 (5 p.m. GST).
  • Final Deadline: December 15, 2025 (5 p.m. GST).
  • Decision Notification: March 15, 2026 (5 p.m. GST).
  • Offer Response Deadline: April 15, 2026.

Note: Early applications (before the priority deadline) are strongly encouraged as admissions are highly competitive.

General Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a degree in a STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other relevant science/engineering fields) from an accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education.
  • Required CGPA: between 3.0 and 3.5 out of 4.0 (depending on the program).
  • Final-year students may apply with provisional transcripts, but must submit official certificates upon admission.
  • For degrees earned outside the UAE, a Certificate of Recognition must be submitted; for UAE degrees, attestation is required within the first semester

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • GRE (optional).
  • Statement of Purpose.
  • Research Statement (for Ph.D. applicants only).
  • Academic referee recommendation letters.
  • Passing the Screening Exam.

  • Bachelor’s transcript and certificate or expected graduation letter.
  • Master’s transcript and certificate (for Ph.D. applicants with a master’s degree).
  • Recommendation letters:
    • 3 for Ph.D. applicants.
    • 2 for Master’s applicants.
  • Research Statement (Ph.D. only).
  • Statement of Purpose (uploaded as PDF).
  • Valid English proficiency certificate (required upon admission).
  • Copy of passport.
  • Photo with white background.

For UAE Nationals:

  • Valid Emirates ID.
  • Copy of passport with unified ID number.
  • National service completion/exemption letter (for UAE national males).
  • Family book (or mother’s family book for children of Emirati mothers).
  • Birth certificate (for children of Emirati mothers).
  • Mother’s valid Emirates ID and passport copy.
  • Valid UAE visa (for non-GCC children of Emirati mothers).

For UAE Residents:

  • Valid UAE residence visa.
  • Emirates ID.

How to Apply

  1. Create an account on the university’s admissions portal and submit the online application before December 15, 2025 (5 p.m. GST).
  2. Upload required documents depending on your program, including:
    • Completed application form.
    • CV.
    • Academic transcripts and certificates (Bachelor’s and Master’s for Ph.D.).
    • 2 recommendations (Master’s) or 3 recommendations (Ph.D.).
    • Statement of Purpose.
    • Research Statement (Ph.D. only).
    • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS ≥ 6.5, TOEFL iBT ≥ 90, or EmSAT ≥ 1550).
    • Passport copy and personal photo.
    • Screening exam may be required, followed by a technical interview for shortlisted applicants.
  3. Prepare for the exam and interview:
    • Screening exam will test advanced mathematics, programming, and (for Ph.D.) machine learning and computer science.
    • A technical interview with the admissions committee may follow.
  4. Await the admission decision:
    • Results will be announced by March 15, 2026 (5 p.m. GST).
