The CrossCulture Programme (CCP) is one of the leading international programmes aimed at enhancing the capacities of civil society professionals, building cultural bridges between countries, and developing the skills of young leaders and professionals around the world.
Through this programme, participants gain a professional experience in Germany or in partner countries for a duration of two to three months, in addition to cross-cultural workshops and long-lasting international professional networks.

Programme Details

  • Application Period: 15 October 2025 – 10 December 2025
  • Fellowship Implementation Period: May – November 2026
  • Mode of Participation: On-site fellowship, with the possibility of digital participation in special cases
  • Number of Fellows: 55 – 60 participants from more than 40 countries
  • Funding Institution: German Federal Foreign Office

Programme Objectives:

  • Strengthen civil societies
  • Develop cross-cultural skills
  • Build international cooperation networks
  • Integrate acquired experience into participants’ home organizations upon return

Funding provided 

For participants from outside Germany:

  • Monthly stipend: €650
  • Round-trip flight ticket
  • Accommodation
  • Monthly local transportation ticket
  • Health insurance
  • Visa fee coverage

For participants from Germany:

  • Monthly stipend: €1,200 (includes accommodation and expenses)
  • Round-trip flight ticket
  • Health insurance
  • Visa fee coverage

Important: The programme does not allow family members to accompany the fellow and does not cover any of their expenses.

Who Can Apply?

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 23 years at the time of application
  • Experience: At least 2 years of professional or volunteer work in a civil society organization
  • Language: Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Health condition: Ability to stay abroad for several months

Preferable for applicants to have:

  • Long-term commitment to community work
  • Current or planned cooperation with an organization in the host country
  • Additional language skills, especially German

Tasks of the Fellow

  • Working within a host organization in Germany or a partner country
  • Attending cross-cultural workshops
  • Participating in professional events and networking activities
  • Transferring the acquired experience to their home organization

  • Human rights and peace
  • Sustainable development and climate justice

  • Culture of Remembrance
  • Democratic Resilience

Eligible Countries

A wide range of countries from:
Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, in addition to Germany itself.

Including (but not limited to):
Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Algeria, UAE, and others.

Note: The list of countries may change annually according to the agreement between ifa and the German Federal Foreign Office.

How to Apply

  1. Select your country from the official application portal
  2. Fill out the application form and upload all required documents
  3. Drafts cannot be saved – prepare all files in advance
  4. Submit the application through the online portal before the deadline
  5. Incomplete applications or submissions via email or after the deadline will not be accepted.

Required Documents

  • CV in English (including education, experience, volunteering, skills)
  • Recommendation letter from a supervisor in the organization (according to the official template on the website)
  • Personal photo (optional)

What Happens After Applying?

  • Receive a confirmation email
  • After the application period ends: Selected candidates are invited to an interview with the selection committee
  • Final results announced in March/April 2026
  • Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified (without justification)
