The Bonn SDG Fellowships in Germany | Funded invites researchers from Latin America, South Asia, East Asia, and Africa to conduct research on topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Professors at Bonn University select and invite international PhD holders for a joint research project through this global fellowship program. In collaboration with a research professor, fellows will teach and assist students in carrying out the research project for one or two semesters.

This fully funded research fellowship for 2026 aims to support academic researchers and strengthen their research networks. Bonn University is an active partner with many research institutes and universities in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. However, achieving the SDGs is easier said than done, as implementing them as real projects has posed significant challenges for many countries across these continents.

Benefits of the Bonn SDG 2026 Fellowship:

  • Travel allowance coverage
  • Monthly stipend of €3,000
  • Up to €300 in funding for a spouse
  • Up to €250 in funding per child
  • Research allowance of €500 per month

Eligibility Criteria for the Bonn SDG 2026 Fellowship:

  • The applicant must hold a PhD degree.
  • The applicant must be selected by a professor from the University of Bonn.
  • The applicant must have a long-term affiliation with a research institution or be actively involved in university-based research.
  • The applicant should have experience in a field related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
