The CCMP Fellowship offers an exceptional opportunity for journalists from around the world to participate in the coverage of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will take place from November 10 to 21, 2025, in Belém, Brazil. Journalists will also have the chance to attend the World Leaders Summit on November 6 and 7, 2025.

Fellowship Details:

  • Organizers: Earth Journalism Network (EJN) by Internews, and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security
  • Conference Location: Belém, Brazil
  • Conference Dates: November 10 – 21, 2025 (World Leaders Summit: November 6 – 7)
  • Fellowship Types:
  • In-person fellowships for journalists from low- and middle-income countries
  • Virtual fellowships for journalists from Pacific Island nations
  • Application Deadline: July 15, 2025 at 11:59 PM (Pacific/Niue time)

  • Team-building activities and local visits in Brazil
  • For Virtual Participants (Pacific Island Journalists Only):
    At least 4 journalists will be selected for virtual coverage
  • Will receive internet support, editorial assistance, and coverage resources
  • Opportunities to conduct Zoom interviews with experts

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a professional journalist affiliated with a recognized media outlet
  • Must be from a low- or middle-income country (see list of eligible countries)
  • Must not have attended any previous COP conference
  • Strong proficiency in English
  • Previous experience in reporting on climate change issues
  • Full commitment to attend all fellowship activities
  • Freelance journalists may apply with a letter of support from a media outlet willing to publish their work
  • Stories must focus on climate change issues in the applicant’s home country
  • Reporting can be in any language, but a summary in English must be provided

Required Documents:

  • Updated CV
  • A 2-minute video explaining your interest and qualifications
  • Support letter from an editor or production manager confirming publication
  • Recent published work related to climate change (links or files)
  • Statement of purpose
  • Valid passport

  • Add your media organization’s details and social media links
  • Fill in your resume and journalistic experience
  • Answer the additional required questions
