Overview of the DESY Summer Program
Each summer, DESY offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students in physics or related disciplines, such as scientific computing and engineering, to gain hands-on research experience at a major international laboratory.
Research Activities
Students will participate in the daily activities of research groups. Research projects include:
- Practical Work:On detectors or experimental equipment.
- Physics Data Analysis:Developing software.
- Theoretical and Scientific Computing.

Eligibility Criteria
- Academic Level:
- Final-year undergraduate students or first-year master’s students by summer 2025.
- Completed at least three years of undergraduate studies in physics, natural sciences, or computing.
- Master’s Degree Restriction:
- Students who have completed or will complete their master’s degree by summer 2025 are ineligible.
- Current master’s students are eligible to apply.
- Previous Participation:Students who have already participated in the DESY Summer Program are not eligible.
- English Proficiency:Applicants must have a good command of English.
- Computing Skills:Strong computing skills are required.
- Full Commitment:Applicants must commit to the full program duration at DESY.
