The Environmental Peacebuilding Association (EnPAx) announces the opening of applications for the2026 EnPAx Environmental Peace Conference Fellows Program, a comprehensive professional and training initiative designed to support and develop the capacities of young researchers and professionals interested in the field of environmental peacebuilding. The fellowship also provides financial support for fellows to attend theFourth International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding, which will be held in Ottawa, Canada.
Program Objectives
This fellowship is part of EnPAx’s and its partners’ commitment to promoting equitable access to environmental peacebuilding and knowledge exchange, particularly for underrepresented or resource-limited communities.
The program aims to invest in professional community-building and skill development through:
- Organizing a series of virtual dialogues and workshops on key issues and case studies in environmental peacebuilding and related fields.
- Providing intensive in-person training focused on project management skills and practical environmental peacebuilding policies.
- Supporting participants in preparing and publishing short policy-relevant articles under the guidance of expert mentors.
Program Structure and Content
Phase 1: Online Community Capacity Building (January – July 2026)
These sessions will be held via Zoom and include:
- January:Launch event – Introduction to Environmental Peacebuilding
- February:Discussion session with a leading academic in the field
- March:Workshop on case studies from local projects
- April:Peer discussion to identify priority topics
- May:Skills workshop on writing and publishing for policy audiences
- July:Final discussion, publication preparation, and program evaluation
Phase 2: Intensive In-Person Training (June 2026 – University of Ottawa, Canada)
This hands-on, interactive training focuses on community organizing and environmental peace project management. It will take place just before the Fourth International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding.

Financial Coverage
The EnPAx Fellowship is afully funded opportunityfor early-career professionals working at the intersection of environment, conflict, and peace. It includes:
- Round-trip travel to and from Canada.
- On-campus accommodationduring the training and conference period.
- Full coverage of training and conference fees
- Daily meals provided for participants.
- Visa supportprovided by EnPAx and the University of Ottawa.
Fellows are expected to:
- Participate infive hours of virtual activities per monthfrom January to July 2026
- Attendin-person activities in Ottawa from June 12–19, 2026(arrival on June 11 and departure on June 20).
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the 2026 EnPAx Conference Fellowship, applicants must:
- Beearly-career professionals(students, junior researchers, or practitioners at the start of their careers) interested in environmental peacebuilding.
- Hold avalid passportand be able to travel to Canada in June 2026.
- Commit tofull participationin all intensive activities from June 12–19, 2026 (approximately 12 hours per day).
- Be willing toengage in follow-up activitiesduring July 2026.
