Erasmus Mundus MESPOM Master’s Scholarship 2026 | Fully Funded

The MESPOM Consortium, consisting of the Central European University (Austria), Lund University (Sweden), the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), and the University of the Aegean (Greece), is inviting applications for theErasmus Mundus Joint Master Degreein Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management for the 2026–2028 study period.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Erasmus Mundus MESPOM program has prepared its students to address complex challenges of environmental sustainability, especially in international contexts. The program combines multidisciplinary curricula with applied approaches, equipping students with research and communication skills, as well as practical engagement in business, government, non-profit organizations, and academia.

The program also offers exposure to diverse geographical perspectives (Scandinavian, Mediterranean, and British) and integrated professional competencies in policy, management, and science. It is further connected with 11 academic and professional partners across 9 countries on 4 continents.

Programme Structure

Duration:2 years (24 months) – 120 ECTS credits

First Year:

  • Fall & Winter terms at Central European University (Vienna, Austria):Introductory and advanced courses on sustainability challenges.
  • Spring term at the University of the Aegean (Lesvos, Greece):Courses on land, water, and ecosystem management, as well as sustainable tourism.
  • Summer:Internship supervised by faculty members.

Second Year:

  • Fall term:Students choose one of two tracks:
    • Lund University (Sweden):Focus on Environment, Industry, and Products.
    • University of Manchester (United Kingdom):Focus on Environment and Pollution Control.
  • Fourth term (Thesis):At any of the consortium universities, depending on the student’s academic and professional interests.

Specializations include:sustainable energy and climate change, biodiversity and conservation, urban sustainability, sustainable consumption and production, and environmental security and justice.

Funding Provided

The Erasmus Mundus program of the European Commission offersfully funded scholarshipsto outstanding students from both within and outside Europe.

The scholarship covers:

  • Travel costs
  • Visa expenses
  • Accommodation
  • Living expenses throughout the program

* Self-funded admission is also available.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applications are open toall nationalities.
  • Applicants must hold aBachelor’s degree (or equivalent)with aminimum GPA of 3.5/4.0, in a relevant field such as environmental sciences, policy, management, natural or social sciences, engineering, or management.
  • Applicants with other degrees may be considered if they demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental issues through voluntary or professional experience.
  • Proof of English proficiency is required through one of the following tests:
    • TOEFL iBT: 88 (90 for Manchester, with no sub-score below 20)
    • TOEFL PBT: 570
    • IELTS Academic: 6.5 (for Manchester, minimum 6.0 in each component)
    • PTE Academic: 59 (70 for Manchester, minimum 65 in each component)
    • Cambridge C1/C2: 180
    • Euroexam Academic: Pass (not accepted for Manchester track)
    • Duolingo: 125 (not accepted for Manchester track)
  • Applicants with a previous degree taught fully in English may request exemption, subject to the admissions committee’s decision.

Applications must be submitted via theCentral European University (CEU)online platform and should include:

  • Completed online application form (no fee if not applying to other CEU programs).
  • Updated CV.
  • Academic and career goals statement (max. 350 words).
  • Official academic transcript and Bachelor’s degree certificate (translated into English).
  • Proof of English proficiency.
  • Two academic or professional recommendation letters.
  • Proof of residency (for selected candidates).
