The Harvard Radcliffe Fellowship is a prestigious program offered by the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University. Who is Eligible to Apply?

  • Experienced scholars and researchers.
  • Professional artists, writers, and journalists.
  • No academic affiliation is required
  • Former fellows since 1999 are not eligible.
  • The fellowship is open to all nationalities, and J-1 visa support is provided for international recipients.

Eligibility Criteria by Field

Humanities and Social Sciences:

  • PhD (or equivalent terminal degree such as PhD, MD, JD) obtained before December 2022.
  • At least one academic book or two peer-reviewed journal articles published.

Science, Engineering, and Mathematics:

  • PhD obtained before December 2022.
  • At least five articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Creative Arts:

  • Film/Video: Works screened at festivals or museums.
  • Visual Arts: Minimum five years of professional experience with at least two solo exhibitions.
  • Fiction/Nonfiction Writing: Published book, book contract, or three substantial published works.
  • Poetry: 20 poems or a published poetry book within the last five years.
  • Journalism: At least five years of professional experience.
  • Theatre: Works produced or in production.
  • Music Composition: Proven professional experience; PhD not required but preferred.

Required Documents

  • Online application form.
  • CV (maximum 6 pages).
  • Project proposal (maximum 1,400 words, including a 150-word summary).
  • Sample of work (written or artistic).
  • Contact details for three referees (no more than 3 letters accepted).
