About the Programme
Every summer, HZB offers a unique opportunity for 20 undergraduate students from around the world to participate in an eight-week research-based summer programme.
The programme allows students to work on their own research project in close collaboration with HZB scientists in various fields, including:
- Photon Science

- Solar Energy and Photovoltaics

- Chemical Catalysis

- Electrochemical Energy Storage

- Quantum and Functional Materials

- Accelerator Research

Participants engage in daily research activities within laboratory teams and experimental facilities, gaining hands-on scientific experience in an advanced research environment.
The programme also includes a variety of complementary activities, such as:
- Visits to HZB research facilities (e.g., the BESSY II synchrotron radiation source and solar energy research laboratories).

- Excursions to research institutions in and around Berlin.

- Workshops on topics like science communication and entrepreneurship.

- A closing event featuring scientific poster presentations.
