Every year, the School of Continuing Education at The American University in Cairo welcomes approximately 20,000 Egyptians of all ages to enhance their professional and personal lives. This is achieved through offering programs and diplomas in a wide range of fields, including Arabic and English languages, translation, business administration, computer science, education, human resource management, TOEFL preparation, teacher training, youth programs, and more.

Established in 1924, the Dean of this college is Mahmoud Allam. The School of Continuing Education offers annual scholarships to Egyptians in several distinguished programs.

Benefits

The School of Continuing Education offers scholarships to young Egyptians from all governorates, graduates of Egyptian government universities, to study in one of the following professional certificate programs affiliated with the School of Continuing Education.

  • 15 fully funded scholarships for one academic year.
  • These scholarships are offered annually. Consideration is given to the applicant's social and economic status, commitment to study, performance during the interview, and bachelor's degree grade when evaluating and selecting scholarship recipients. The duration of the scholarship should not exceed one year (from July 2024 to June 2025).

Eligibility Criteria for School of Continuing Education Scholarships:

  • Applicants must be Egyptian citizens. Priority is given to applicants from less privileged areas (outside Greater Cairo).
  • Applicants must not exceed 28 years of age by July 1, 2024.
  • Applicants must be graduates of Egyptian government universities.
  • Applicants must have a bachelor's degree with at least a good grade, with priority given to those with a very good grade or higher.
  • Applicants must not be eligible for military service throughout the duration of the scholarship (from July 2024 to June 2025).
  • Applicants must not have studied any professional certificates at the School of Continuing Education or any diplomas at The American University in Cairo, or benefited from any scholarship from the American University/School of Continuing Education before.
  • Pass the English Language Proficiency Test (face-to-face or online) with the required score for level A2C for professional certificates.
  • Pass the English Language Proficiency Test (face-to-face or online) with the required score for level B2A for translation diplomas.
  • Pass the Arabic Language Admission Test (face-to-face or online).

Hurry and register for proficiency level tests. The first face-to-face proficiency test will start on May 29, 2024, and the first online proficiency test will start on June 13, 2024. The first Arabic language admission test online for the translation diploma will also start on June 13, 2024.

Required Documents

  • Copy of National ID Card
  • Copies of National ID Cards for both parents (In case of one parent's death, please provide the death certificate)
  • Copy of National ID Card for spouse (If the applicant is married)
  • Official statement of family monthly income
  • Official statement (or letter from HR department) indicating your job position and salary (if employed)
  • Official statement (or letter from HR department) indicating spouse's job position and salary (if the applicant is married)
  • Copy of military service status (for males)
  • Copy of original graduation certificate (Last year's academic success statement is not sufficient)
  • Copy of English Language Proficiency Test result (A2C level) for all mentioned certificates except for the Legal Translation Diploma
  • Copy of English Language Proficiency Test result (B2A level) and Arabic Language Admission Test result for Legal and UN Translation Diploma
  • Recent passport-sized photo

When applying, you must write a paragraph of about 250 words about your social situation (in Arabic or English). Please write the paragraph in a Word document before pasting it into the online application form. The paragraph should include:

  • Introduction about yourself (name, age, university, marital status, employed or unemployed)
  • Brief about your parents, their job status, and income
  • Brief about your siblings, if any, their current educational and job status
  • The certificate you wish to enroll in and why you want to study it

    After passing the language proficiency test with the required score (English Language Test/Arabic Language Admission Test for the Translation Diploma), you can apply for the scholarship from the link below.

Notes

  • Once the documents are submitted, you cannot resubmit them.
  • Applicants who have been rejected in previous years are not allowed to reapply.
  • All applicants must pay the fees for the English Language Proficiency Test and the Arabic Language Admission Test (in case of applying for the Translation Diploma).
  • Test fees will be refunded only to accepted scholarship recipients.
  • After passing the English/Arabic Language Proficiency Test, please proceed to apply for the scholarship.
