The Chung-Ang University Young Scientist Scholarship (CAYSS) Program

The Chung-Ang University Young Scientist Scholarship (CAYSS) Program is a program specifically designed to offer graduate scholarships to international students at the Graduate School of Chung-Ang University. It is a fully funded scholarship targeting outstanding international students in the fields of science, engineering, and medicine. Scholarship Benefits:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be an international student (non-Korean, and both parents must be non-Korean).

  • The applicant must have completed all educational stages (elementary, secondary, and university) abroad for at least 16 years.

  • The applicant must hold:

    1. A bachelor's degree from a recognized university (for master's programs).

    2. A master’s degree (in addition to a bachelor’s degree) for Ph.D. programs.

  • The applicant must receive official acceptance and recommendation from a full-time faculty member at Chung-Ang University.

  • The applicant must maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 each semester to continue receiving the benefits.

Research Registration:

Ph.D. students are required to register for research for two semesters. The registration fee is 10% of the total tuition fees and is not covered by the CAYSS scholarship. The student is responsible for paying the research registration fee. Students who wish to receive a research registration certificate after completing their studies must also register for research.

 

Graduation Requirements:

  1. Master's Degree: The student must submit an article to a JCR journal either alone or in collaboration with the academic advisor before graduation. The article must be published within one year of graduation (including publication confirmation). It must be separate from the graduation thesis.

  2. Ph.D. Degree: The student must publish an article in a JCR journal either as the first author or as a corresponding author (including publication confirmation). It must be separate from the dissertation.

  3. Joint Master's and Ph.D. Degree: The student must publish an article in a JCR journal either as the first author or as a corresponding author (including publication confirmation). It must be separate from the thesis.

  • After completing more than four semesters with more than 30 credits in the program, the master's degree is recognized.

Scholarship Cancellation Policies:

  • If the successful applicant decides to cancel or leave their studies after the semester begins (mid-term), they will be required to pay a specified amount of tuition based on Chung-Ang University's policy for refunding tuition fees in case of scholarship cancellation.

Eligibility for Application:

  • A letter of recommendation and acceptance from a faculty member at Chung-Ang University.

  • Submission of all required academic and personal documents (such as certificates, CV, statement of purpose...).

  • Commitment to research requirements, especially for Ph.D. students (e.g., payment of research registration fees not covered by the scholarship).
