Travel to America through the IREX Program
The Community and Cultural Exchange Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State in collaboration with IREX, aims to utilize expertise, skills, and resources for development in various sectors and to build healthy and cooperative communities in more than 100 countries. This program supports young leaders in civil society by providing them with strong networking opportunities both online and during their travel to America. It also offers information on social issues such as sustainable development, civil dialogue, peace and diversity, and youth participation.
The primary goal is to empower the next generation and make them decision-makers through leadership and community activities, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to have a positive impact on the world. Additionally, the program works to build the maximum capacity for civil society leaders and community organizations by enhancing participants' knowledge and strengthening their leadership skills.
Program Details:
- Three months of travel in America, working on community issues in the participants' home countries.
- Focus on developing leadership skills.
- Community Project: This is the project participants are trained on to implement in their own countries.

General Program Details:
- Type of training: Fully funded
- Duration: One year, including three months of travel in the United States

Eligibility Requirements:
- Age between 21-27.
- Citizen of one of the countries mentioned in the grant.
- At least two years of experience in volunteer work.
- Reside and work in your home country (exceptions are made for refugees).
- Strong English speaking and writing skills (proof of language proficiency such as TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo will be required if you reach the semi-finals).
- Available to travel to the United States for three months.
- Commitment to return to your home country to implement the trained project and stay for two years after the program.
- No issues obtaining a U.S. J-1 visa.
- Neither you nor any family members work for IREX.
