In a world where conflicts are increasingly complex and multilateral mechanisms are weakening, Yale University —through the International Leadership Center (ILC)— offers the Peace Fellowship program. This initiative aims to empower emerging leaders in the fields of conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconciliation. The program focuses on equipping frontline peacebuilders with tools for strategic thinking, learning, and effective networking.

Each year, 16 fellows are selected from diverse professional backgrounds including civil society, diplomacy, politics, religion, and social entrepreneurship. These individuals are recognized for their impactful work and ongoing commitment to realizing their potential as peace leaders.

Program Components

  • In-person Seminar: Held at Yale’s campus in New Haven from April 13 to 17, 2026.
  • Interactive Virtual Sessions: Conducted twice a month from January to May 2026.
  • International Study Tour: Taking place in the United Arab Emirates from February 1 to 5, 2026. This includes participation in the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity ceremony, engagement with interfaith dialogue initiatives, and involvement in a global network of peacebuilders and mediators.

In-Person Requirements

Selected fellows must commit to attending:

  • The international study tour from February 1 to 5, 2026.
  • The study week at Yale from April 13 to 17, 2026.

Selection and Evaluation

Admission to the fellowship is highly competitive. Participants are carefully chosen to represent a wide geographic, cultural, and professional diversity. The program values varied insights and experiences that enrich group dialogue and learning.

  • Short introductory video.
  • Personal statement (up to 600 words).
  • One letter of recommendation.
