The UN Development Programme operates in approximately 170 countries and territories, working towards eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities and exclusion. Through supporting policies, leadership skills, partnerships, institutional capabilities, and resilience building, UNDP helps sustain development outcomes. The organization aligns with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will shape global sustainable development over the next 15 years.
overview of Young Leaders Fellowship 2023
The Young Leaders Fellowship 2023 is aiming to provide opportunities for African youth in Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Engagement while integrating youth and women into key development areas. This partnership seeks to nurture a new generation of young African women leaders and experts, enabling them to contribute to Africa's progress by designing and implementing development programs within the context of the SDGs and Agenda 2063. The Young Leaders Fellowship 2023 will explore various development areas falling under the six strategic impact categories of UNDP's Renewed Strategic Offer in Africa, including Natural Resource Governance, Youth and Women's Employment and Empowerment, Structural Economic Transformation, Sustainable Energy, Climate Change, and Peace and Security.
The Young Leaders Fellowship 2023 is seeking up to 40 talented young African women to join its third cohort for a 12-month fellowship. As an Young Leaders Fellowship 2023 Fellow, you will be assigned to a UNDP office and participate in a learning and development program. The journey will require adaptability and agility as you leverage your skills and potential within the assigned environment. Applicants should be willing to accept placements in either the UNDP headquarters, Country, or Regional office, with no placements in hardship locations. The fellowship assignment cannot be extended beyond the 12-month period.
