In 2023, AWS partnered with Udacity to grant scholarships to 2,500 students. These scholarships offer a fantastic opportunity to acquire valuable skills that can pave the way to exciting career prospects in the high-demand fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). All aspiring candidates are granted access to a generous offering of 20 hours of complimentary training modules and tutorials. These resources are designed to provide a solid foundation in the fundamentals of machine learning, with a focus on using AWS DeepRacer Student.

Introducing the AWS AI & ML Scholarship Program

Are you a high school or college student aged 16 or older with a keen interest in pursuing a career in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)? If so, this scholarship program is tailored just for you.

The Amazon Web Services Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Scholarship program is dedicated to supporting students who are often underrepresented and underserved in the tech industry. Our goal is to provide these students with the opportunity to grasp essential machine-learning principles as they gear up for a future in one of the most dynamic and rapidly expanding fields of today.

Machine learning stands on the brink of revolutionizing virtually every industry. However, there's a pressing shortage of adequately trained machine learning developers to fulfill this demand, particularly among individuals from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the tech sector.

According to the World Economic Forum, the surge in technological advancements and automation is expected to generate an impressive 97 million new tech-related jobs by 2025, with a substantial share in the domain of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

While technology-related job opportunities are on the rise, there remains a significant underrepresentation of women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with disabilities, and people of color in science and technology professions. To illustrate, the World Economic Forum's "The Future of Gender Parity" report indicates that women account for just approximately 26% of the workforce in roles related to data and AI.

How does it work?

Enroll in AWS DeepRacer Student

Opt into the AI & ML Scholarship to begin the application prerequisites. Students can access 20 hours of AWS AI & ML content at launch, receive 10 hours of model training, and get 5 GB of storage per month to participate in the AWS DeepRacer Student League.

Scholarship recipients announced

2,000 students will receive scholarships for the 4-month AI Programming with Python Nanodegree program. Attend virtual mentoring events with industry pros. Plus, learn foundational skills in a collaborative virtual environment with mentorship from Udacity and Amazon advisors.

Additional Nanodegree program

All graduates will be invited to take an assessment. The 500 students with the highest scores on the assessment will earn a second Udacity Nanodegree program scholarship to help further prepare them for a career in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Compete for rewards. Test your skills on the track and compete monthly from March to September in the 2023 Student League for a chance to win prizes. Students who are underrepresented or underserved in the tech industry may also qualify for a Udacity nanodegree scholarship through the AWS AI & ML Scholarship Program.
