dmission Requirements for Doha Institute Scholarship

General Requirements:

  1. Applicants should not have received this scholarship before.
  2. Applicants should not be recipients of another scholarship at the same time as this scholarship.

Additional Requirements for Ph.D.:

  1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field or a closely related field with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.50, and a Master's degree or its equivalent with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.75 on a 4.00 scale (or its equivalent) from a recognized and accredited university listed by the Qatari Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in a field relevant to the research area for which the candidate is applying.
  2. Applicants must demonstrate that their studies were conducted on a regular basis to obtain both the Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
  3. The applicant must be capable of conducting academic research and studying in Arabic, with proficiency in the English language.

Requirements for Master's:

  1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent and obtain one of the grades mentioned in the following grading table.
  2. The student must have obtained their Bachelor's degree within the last five years.
  3. Final-year undergraduate students expected to graduate in the same year of application to the Institute are eligible to apply.
  4. The applicant must be capable of conducting academic research and studying in Arabic, with a working knowledge of the English language. Applicants who do not speak Arabic proficiently but meet all other requirements will be subjected to an oral and written Arabic language test before the announcement of their acceptance.

Required Documents for Application to the Doha Institute

For Ph.D.:

  1. Complete the online admission application, through which you must submit all the required attachments (the application will be evaluated only if it is submitted in full with all necessary documents; incomplete files cannot be reviewed).
  2. A copy of your passport (for international students) or personal identification card (for Qatari nationals and residents).
  3. Authenticated copies of your Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
  4. Authenticated transcripts for both your Bachelor's and Master's degrees, including any transferred credits from other universities.
  5. Provide the IELTS Academic test score with a minimum score of 7 or TOEFL iBt with a minimum score of 94, valid at the time of application.
  6. A copy of your Master's thesis, graduation project, or a research sample.
  7. A Statement of Interest, between 750-1000 words, explaining your motivation to pursue a Ph.D. at the Institute, how your academic background and qualifications will contribute to your success in the program you intend to study, and your future plans.
  8. An initial Ph.D. research proposal of approximately 2000 words in which you specify your research interests and the areas you intend to investigate. You can also suggest the names of academics you wish to work under their supervision. Applicants may contact professors at the Institute to obtain preliminary approval for supervision if accepted.
  9. Three recommendation letters from individuals familiar with your academic background, sent directly to the electronic admission application.
  10. GRE test results.
  11. A copy of your curriculum vitae (CV).

Required Documents for Master's:

  1. Complete the online admission application, through which you must submit all the required documents.
  2. A copy of your passport.
  3. Bachelor's degree certificate or its equivalent, or an official graduation certificate. This does not apply to final-year students.
  4. Updated transcripts for all undergraduate courses, including any transferred credits from other universities. Final-year students should provide all transcripts up to the date of application.
  5. Two recommendation letters from professors familiar with the candidate's academic work and scholarly experience. Additional recommendation letters may be sent by the candidate's supervisor at work if the applicant has work experience.
  6. Provide IELTS Academic test results with a minimum score of 5.5, TOEFL iBt with a minimum score of 59, or DELF B2 with a minimum score of 50.
  • Students who have earned their Bachelor's degree from an American, British, Canadian, Australian university or one of their branches abroad, or from Qatari universities that use English as a medium of instruction, are exempt from the English language requirement.
  • Graduation requirement is 6.5 in the IELTS Academic test or 79 in the TOEFL iBt. Accepted students who score 5.5 or 6 in the test are required to take mandatory English language classes to meet the graduation requirement during their studies at the Institute. Exemption is granted if the student retakes the test during their studies and achieves the required score for graduation.

All academic transcripts and the Bachelor's degree certificate or its equivalent must be translated into Arabic or English.
