As part of its research expansion strategy, the University offers a number of fully funded PhD scholarships for both domestic and international students wishing to begin their studies in February 2026.
Funding Provided
Full-time Study
- Annual stipend: £22,000 (tax-free).
- Full coverage of tuition fees.
- Program duration: 3 years.
- Commitment to teaching or research duties for a maximum of 6 hours per week.
Part-time Study
- Annual stipend: £11,000 (tax-free).
- Full coverage of tuition fees.
- Program duration: 6 years.
- Commitment to teaching or research duties for a maximum of 3 hours per week.

Academic Requirements for PhD Admission
- A Bachelor’s degree (First or Upper Second Class – 2:1) or equivalent in a relevant field.
- A Master’s degree (MA, MSc, MBA, or MRes) with Merit or above, or equivalent postgraduate/research experience.
For international applicants:
- Proficiency in English is a must with an IELTS score of at least 6.5 (no element below 6.0).
- Applicants holding a previous degree obtained in the UK are exempt from this requirement.
Important Conditions for International Students
- Applicants must check student visa requirements, including the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) and the Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) before applying.
- Scholarship funds cannot be used to cover visa application costs.
