Outstanding female students are encouraged to become part of this fully-funded leadership program to fulfill the United States’ mission of attracting them and involving them in various academic activities and programs to ensure cooperation and financial stability in global communities.

In 2024, the cultural exchange program will enable 111 young women from 37 countries, alongside 13 American peers, to experience an amazing four-week program in the United States, along with seven months of mentorship. Since 2012, the TechGirls program has helped elevate 653 young girls globally. Participants are required to engage in interactive camps focusing on technology and computing, followed by traveling to designated countries for job shadowing in tech companies. They will also enjoy homestay experiences and community service. The TechGirls program allows all participants to practice their religious rituals freely. Meals suitable for those concerned about halal or haram food will be provided, with special buffets organized at halal restaurants when possible.

Eligibility Criteria TechGirls Exchange Program 2025:

  • Candidates must belong to the eligible countries listed in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia and Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, South and Central Asia, Western Hemisphere, Europe and Eurasia, and the USA.
  • Candidates should be between the ages of 15 and 17 at the beginning of the program.
  • Candidates must possess advanced skills and interest in technology engineering or math during their study tenure.
  • Candidates must wish to pursue their higher education and career in technology.
  • Candidates must have strong English language skills.
  • Candidates must exhibit a mature, flexible, and open-minded approach.
  • Candidates must be ready to attend at least one additional semester after their return to their home country.
  • Candidates must be willing to complete a community service project in their home country after their return.
  • Candidates with no prior experience in the USA or who have not visited the USA in the last three years are preferred.

  • Eight essay questions are required to be filled.

History of the TechGirls Program

The TechGirls program is an international initiative aimed at empowering young girls to pursue higher education and career opportunities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Beginnings:

  • 2012: The idea for the program was launched, initially supporting girls from the Middle East and North Africa, including Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, and Yemen.

Expansion:

  • 2019: The program was expanded to include young women from Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, enhancing educational and career opportunities for girls in these regions.
  • 2022: The program experienced global expansion to include girls from all six regions of the world, including the Western Hemisphere, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Eurasia, East Asia and the Pacific, the Middle East and North Africa, and South and Central Asia.

Achievements:

Since its inception, 781 teenage girls have been trained and mentored, with participants gaining opportunities to develop their skills through hands-on training and educational courses, boosting their confidence in STEM fields.
