There are 50 scholarships available. Applications will be reviewed through a two-stage process:
Departmental Review:
- Applications that meet or are expected to meet the eligibility criteria will be reviewed by the department to which the applicant has applied.
- Departments will create a shortlist of applicants to be forwarded to the College Selection Committee.
College Selection Committee Decision:
- The final scholarship decision will be made by the College Selection Committee, which consists of the Vice President (Research), the Director of the Graduate School, and the College’s Deans of Research.
- Imperial College recognizes excellence across all its faculties and thus allows for some offers at the college level:
- College Allocation Stage: The committee will assess and rank the shortlisted applicants from the departments and make preliminary offers to the most promising candidates. Deans present these offers to the College Selection Committee with justifications.
- College Selection Committee: The committee may make additional offers from specific allocations for applicants who meet the expansion goals or other strategic objectives.
Evaluation Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated by the departments and the College Selection Committee according to the following criteria:
Successful applicants will receive written confirmation of their scholarship. Any offer of a place in the PhD program will be conditional on the applicant achieving the expected qualifications.
Applicants who are not selected for the scholarship will automatically be considered for the standard PhD program.
