RESEARCH AT KAUST AS AN INTERN 2024

The Visiting Student Research Program (VSRP) is a cool internship where smart students from around the world can do research in science, technology, engineering, and math. You get to work with our great teachers in awesome labs. Your discoveries won’t just be in journals; they’ll also help solve real-world problems that affect society.

Internship at KAUST

To apply for the VSRP internship, choose a project from the list below. We have over 100 projects in 16 STEM disciplines. Each project, lasting 3-6 months, covers airfares, housing, health insurance, and a monthly stipend.

You'll collaborate with top researchers in our modern labs. We welcome applications from driven students eager to make a difference. If this describes you, select a project that interests you and start your journey at KAUST.

 

 

Internship Details

Number of acceptance: 130

Research Project: 200

Internship period: 3-6 months

Eligible countries: Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Djibouti, Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Comoros, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen, all countries around the world.

Students admitted into the program receive:

  • Monthly Stipend ($1000)
  • Health Insurance
  • Coverage Travel and VISA
  • Costs Shared Housing
  • Social And Cultural Activities

 

New research projects have been added in the following areas:

  1. Cybersecurity
  2. Environmental Science and Engineering
  3. Earth Science and Engineering
  4. Computer Science
  5. Applied Mathematics and Computational Science

Who can apply:

  • Students in their 3rd year or beyond in their undergraduate studies.
  • Master's students can also apply.
  • If you're currently doing a PhD, or you're already a KAUST student or graduate, sorry, you can't apply this time.
  • You need a good GPA – at least 3.5 out of 4, or 14 out of 20 (that's like a B in ECTS).
  • You should be really good at English, both speaking and writing.
  • It's suggested to have a TOEFL score of at least 79 (if you're taking the Internet Based Test) or an IELTS score of 6.5.

What you need to submit:

  • Official transcripts in English from your current and past schools.
  • A letter of recommendation.
  • A valid passport.
  • A statement of purpose.
  • Your curriculum vitae (CV).

 

The Selection Process: After you apply:

  1. Once you've submitted all the necessary documents, your entire application will be reviewed.
  2. You might be contacted by a faculty member for a ZOOM interview. This interview will cover your academic background, research experience, and your interest in the internship.
  3. If you've chosen to move forward, you'll get an invitation for a ZOOM interview with the Office of Admissions. This is a chance for you to ask any questions about life at KAUST, and for us to learn more about you.
  4. If you're approved, you'll receive an acceptance letter via email after the interview.
  5. Lastly, a travel advisor will reach out to assist you in relocating smoothly to the KAUST campus.
