If you received a job offer to work in Canada through the GHP, you are eligible to apply for a Work Permit under the Innovation Stream.

You will need the following information to apply:

  • The name of the employer you can work for
  • The duration of your employment
  • The location of the job, if available

Who can apply for a Work Permit?

  • Those who received a job offer from GHP
  • The job is classified under TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3

Before Applying

Before you submit your Work Permit application, your employer must:

  • Submit a specific job offer application.
  • Pay a $230 fee called the Compliance Fee.
  • Provide you with a job offer number.

There are two ways to obtain a fast-track work permit within two weeks for immigration to Canada:

This depends on whether you need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or not.

What is an LMIA? An LMIA is a document provided by an employer in Canada that indicates they need a worker and that no Canadian or permanent resident is available to fill the position. This document is sometimes called a confirmation letter. You can learn more about it [here].

If you do not need an LMIA, you must meet these requirements:

  • You are applying from outside Canada.
  • You are in TEER category 0 or 1.
  • Your employer has submitted a job offer specific to you and paid the necessary fees [here].

If you need an LMIA:

  • You must apply from outside Canada.
  • You have a positive LMIA through GTS.

Spouse and Children:
