Opportunity Overview
The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) and the CEO’s Youth Advisory Panel believe that young people have the power to drive effective and fair adaptation policies. To further this goal, they will be organizing six Youth Adaptation Forums across the world in 2023. These forums will be held in different regions and will aim to raise awareness about the importance of adaptation policies among young people. The forums will also prepare young people for the annual global Youth Dialogue on Adaptation, which is a key event for the youth adaptation movement leading up to COP28. The forums and Youth Dialogue will play a crucial role in promoting the views of young people in international climate decision-making processes. They will also help advance the Africa Climate Summit and COP28.
The key objectives of these events are:
To advance inclusive and equitable decision-making and action in adaptation policies, including the Global Goal on Adaptation and National Adaptation Plans, by bringing together experts, policymakers, and young people.
To encourage innovative ideas and adaptation action among young people by showcasing African youth leadership around the world, including the African YouthADAPT winners.
To establish and enhance regional connections between young people and youth organizations to scale up adaptation actions and strengthen the role of young people.
