Scheduled from October 16 to 20, 2023, the 4th UNCTAD Youth Forum is set to occur in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, alongside the World Investment Forum (WIF), with the theme “For Planetary Prosperity.” Geared towards students and young professionals aged 18 to 30, the Forum offers an opportunity to engage in discussions on trade and development matters and exchange ideas with peers from various parts of the globe.
The upcoming UNCTAD Youth Forum, themed “For Planetary Prosperity,” will provide a platform for young professionals and students aged 18 to 30 to discuss pertinent topics such as ongoing technological advancements, industry transformations, education for the future, and the growing importance of soft skills, particularly collaboration in addressing complex global issues and building a more resilient economy.
The Forum has the following objectives:
- Encourage knowledge-sharing and networking among young individuals, creating a community of future leaders worldwide.
- Facilitate interactive discussions between youth participants and global leaders involved in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, allowing the youth to express their views on issues of concern and areas for improvement.
- Increase awareness on youth-led initiatives and how to enhance their involvement in sustainable development programs.

- As funds are made available by donors and sponsors, successful applicants will receive confirmation of the funding opportunities available.
- Applicants are also invited to look for their own sources of funding to attend the Forum
Eligibility Criteria
- Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30.
- Participants must have proficiency in the English language, both in speaking and comprehension.
- Participants should have prior experience in areas that fall under the scope of UNCTAD’s work and focus. This can be demonstrated through academic or professional projects related to trade and development.
- Evidence of relevant experience in the field will be considered through video descriptions provided by the participants.
