The application for the CAS ANSO Scholarship in China  is now open. ANSO stands for the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO). The alliance offers a total of 500 fully funded scholarships for 2025 in China, including 200 scholarships for Master’s degrees and 300 scholarships for PhD degrees annually. These scholarships are available for study at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or the institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) across China. The CAS-ANSO scholarship covers all expenses for the entire duration of the study. Applicants from all around the world are eligible to apply, and if you do not have an IELTS or TOEFL certificate, you may provide other proof of English proficiency. What is the ANSO Scholarship?

The ANSO Scholarship is a scholarship provided by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO) in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and several prominent Chinese universities. This scholarship aims to support outstanding international students pursuing Master's or PhD degrees in the fields of science and technology. It offers students the opportunity to learn and acquire knowledge in a rich and advanced educational environment.

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is one of the leading universities in China and Asia. It is known for its advanced programs in science and technology and is considered one of the top educational institutions in the region.

The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) is a research university located in Beijing, China. It is affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and is known for its focus on higher education and advanced scientific research.

ANSO Scholarship Benefits

The main benefits for the ANSO Scholarship holders are:

  • Tuition Waiver
  • Monthly Stipend
    • 6,000 to 7,000 CNY/Month for PhD for up to 48 months
    • 3,000 CNY/Month for Masters for up to 36 months
  • Health Insurance
  • Application Fee waiver
  • International Travel Allowance from home country to China.
  • Visa Fee, and Residence Permit Allowance.

Note:

 You are NOT allowed to apply for the ANSO Scholarship in both USTC and UCAS simultaneously, otherwise you will be disqualified from admission.

ANSO Scholarship Requirements and Criteria

  • Citizenship: Must be a non-Chinese citizen.
  • Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in either English or Chinese.
  • Age:
    • Master Applicants: Born after January 1, 1995.
    • PhD Applicants: Born after January 1, 1990.
  • University Requirements: Must meet the specific requirements set by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS).

Eligibility Criteria for CAS ANSO Scholarship in China: 

  • Applicants should not have Chinese citizenship.
  • Applicants should be proficient in English or Chinese language.
  • Candidates should be born after 1st January 1995 for Master’s program.
  • Candidates should be born after 1st January 1990 for PhD program.
  • All candidates must meet the admission criteria for international students of USTC/UCAS.
  • Applicants are not allowed to take up other assignments during the scholarship period.
  • Students who are currently doing a master’s degree at any university in China cannot apply for this master’s scholarship program.
  • Students who are currently doing a doctoral degree at any university in China cannot apply for this PhD scholarship program.
  • All awardees have to complete the centralized training in Chinese language, Chinese culture and all required credits.
  • All awardees have to complete the practical research and degree thesis at colleges and schools of USTC/UCAS or CAS institutes.
  • Candidates can either apply for USTC or UCAS scholarship.

 

Documents Required for China Scholarship 2025:

  • Photocopy of passport (should have validity of at least one year).
  • A research proposal (minimum 800 words).
  • CV 
  • Two letters of recommendation from professors with their contact number and email address.
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  • Photocopy of HSK certificate or other evidence of Chinese language proficiency. (For Chinese programs)
  • Photocopy of valid IELTS or TOEFL result or other evidence of English proficiency if mother tongue is not English. (For English programs)
  • Photocopy of degree certificate.
  • If degree is not obtained yet, submit a pre-graduation certificate with degree completion date on it.
  • Photocopy of academic transcripts for both Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree.
  • Official documents to show your student status.
  • Employed applicants should provide official documents about their post.
