Recipients of the PhD Scholarship at Melbourne University are entitled to various benefits, including:

  1. A stipend of $46,428 per annum pro rata (for full-time study), which is a generous RMIT top-up of approximately $15,000 above the RTP rate.
  2. Research support allowance of $5,000 per annum to assist with research activities.
  3. International candidates who receive the PhD Scholarship are also granted an RMIT Research International Tuition Fee Scholarship (RRITFS).
  4. Local candidates, including Australian and New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of Australia, are provided with an RTP Fee Offset scholarship. This scholarship covers their tuition fees for the maximum duration of their candidature.
  5. A relocation allowance of up to $515 per adult and $255 per child, to a maximum of $1,540, to support the cost of relocating for the postgraduate research program.
  6. Paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave, subject to the Scholarship Terms and Conditions.
  7. For international candidates, the cost of an Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy is provided for the duration of their visa.

Prepare your application, which consists of two main stages:

Stage 1: Expression of Interest (EOI)

In this stage, the university gathers sufficient information about you to determine if you are eligible for the program and evaluates the research you will conduct as part of your Ph.D. program. The college you are applying to may also want to conduct a personal interview as part of the assessment.

If your EOI is successful, you will be invited to complete and submit the rest of your application in the second stage.
