Opportunity Overview

AU-YVC is a program that encourages young people in Africa to volunteer and play a key role in achieving the continent’s human development goals. The program aims to bring people together to share their skills, knowledge, creativity, and learning in order to build a more integrated and united Africa, thereby strengthening the continent’s relevance in the globalized world. AU-YVC was officially launched in December 2010 in Nigeria, in the presence of high-level representatives, partners, and youth organizations from across Africa. The program is in line with the African Youth Charter and the decision of AU Head of States and Governments in Assembly/AU/Dec.274 (XVI) January 2010 to establish a continental volunteer initiative.
